My Trip to the Vet....Twice

Well it was bound to happen, mom found a hot spot on me...

She said I had to go to the vets to get it shaved and cleaned up...it was going to be really quick.

Nooooooo!!!! I tried to protest but off to the vets I went.

After a quick shave, the vet sent me home with some medicine to make sure there is no infection. Thirty minutes after taking it, I woke mom up.

I just didn't feel right....mom turned the lights on and a whole bunch of HBO words flew outta her mouth.

That's right, I blew up like a blowfish! After making sure I was breathing alright, being the typical blogger, mom grabs the camera.

Really?!?!?!

Of course by this time the vets have closed and the nearest ER is 40 minutes away. So before I know it I had benadryl shoved down my throat and I was off on my 2nd trip to the vets!!!

Here I am with dad after my first shot of benadryl.

And here I am planning my escape after feeling much better!

This place ain't so bad after all!!!

Meanwhile....

Maggie waited up for me til the wee hours of the morning. Actually, I think she was just wondering why she didn't get to go for a ride! BOL!

Today, I'm exhausted! Mom kept waking me up during the night to make sure I was ok.

She slept with a tiny flashlight under her pillow, guess it's better than that damn camera!

The one lesson I have learned through this whole ordeal:

There is no such thing as just a "quick trip to the vet".

And yes, I'll be milking this for allllll it's worth!

  2. OMG...what did they give you?! What a day and night...may I just say that your hot spot is in an unusual spot. You must have a quite the turn on your head to be licking that spot. Oh boy...oh boy.

Our Annie had her share of hots spots. May I suggest to your mommy..to have you wear a cone to keep you from licking it. I know, I know..the cone of shame but you need to keep it dry. That will make it go away the fastest. Our Annie sometimes seemed to be in a cone for along time but the hot spot healed up much faster that way than if we hadn't put one on.

Take care Miley...sending your puppy hugs!

  4. Oh, those hot spots are so bad. Mom was smart to try to catch it fast. Guess you won't be taking those meds any more. Glad you are doing better, Miley. Maggie is such a sweet sister.

  5. You're right about there not being such a thing as a 'quick trip to the vet,' just as there is no such thing as a little hot spot!! I hope you're feeling better very very soon, and your Mom catches up on her sleep!! :-)

  8. Yep, you're correct - there is no such thing as a quick trip (or cheap) to the vet.

I'd be milking this one too. :)

  11. Hey Miley!
Wow, I'm so sorry about your double-dogtor trip! Sounds like having the hot spot would have been better than that nasty reaction. I'm sure that the goodies in that candy machine helped you feel better! BOL

  16. I am so glad you are ok now. I have a lot of skin problems too. I just had to get shaved and am taking prednisone and antibiotics so I understand what you mean. I am so sorry you got blowed up and had to go back. Sleep well and sweet dreams.

  17. Not the kind of adventure one looks forward to, but glad it turned out OK. Those hot spots can be so vexing and of course nobody likes to go about sporting a shaved spot in their furs, but I suppose it is really the best way to get better fast.
