A Dog and Her Ottoman

They say a dog's short term memory is about five minutes but their long term memory is harder to determine.

When it comes to Maggie, I think her long term memory is pretty impressive!

Maggie loved this ottoman when she was a puppy and napped on it constantly...

No matter how much she grew she could maneuver herself to fit on top...
That ottoman has been in storage for the past several years.

A few weeks ago, we pulled it out and decided to put in back in our family room.

Low and behold, no sooner did I turn around that she was back in her favorite spot...

Perhaps a little bit larger...

But still fitting perfectly!

  1. Oh that's so precious! That's a great series of photos. I think many dogs, if not all dogs, do have long-term memory, and Maggie just gave proof of that. Daisy's only five, but she does remember things - and people - from a few years back as well.

  2. I think dogs remember a lot more than we give them credit for...as evidenced by the ottoman! Maggie must remember how comfy she was when she napped there.

  4. From what we can tell from Dakota (and your Maggie), dogs DO have excellent long term memory. Maggie must draw a lot of comfort from the ottoman.

  5. That is so cute. I have that same (or similar) ottoman at our cabin. Freighter used to climb on it to look out the front window. He barely fit on it...lol. I moved it to the back bedroom so he doesn't really care to climb it anymore. :) Thanks so much for joining the hop.

  6. That is so awesome! I believe dogs do have excellent long term memories. Our beagle Kobi used to love our elderly neighbors who cared for him and gave him treats. Years after they were gone, he would still pull towards their house every time we walked by.

  7. Those first two pictures are precious! It's heartwarming to see a dog get comfort from something they did or had as a puppy. Maggie definitely remembers it.

  10. I'm sure it still had some scent on it and we do remember things we loved dearly even as pups.

  11. I never got that whole, "dogs can't remember" theory. I know Sampson could be playing with a toy and go outside and come inside and go right back to that toy, no matter how long he was outside for!

Has she stretched out on it yet?

Thanks for joining the blog hop!
